Ginisang Chayote

Ginisang Chayote (or Sayote) para sa mga mahihilig sa gulay! Siempre lagyan ng buhay, sahugan natin ng beef :)

~JilValentine

Ingredients

1/2 kilo Ground Beef

3-4 pcs chayote

2 cloves of Garlic (minced)

1 white onion (minced)

1 tsp salt and dash of Ground Pepper

Beef cubes (if you prefer)

Cooking oil

1/4 cup water

Instructions

In a pan, set the heat at a very very low level. Once heated, add cooking oil.

Saute onion and garlic. You may want to adjust the heat level to medium.

Add Ground Beef, on medium heat, and saute for 5 minutes. Add 1 tsp of salt.

Add 1/4 cup water, and all the flavorings: beef cubes, salt, and pepper.

Mix or boil for 3 minutes.

Once everything has been mixed. Add your chayote. Let it simmer for about five minutes and it’s done!

Serve it with your choice of rice. (I prefer Jasmin Rice).

Important  Notes:

You can cook this without the beef, omit the beef cubes, and use about 2 teaspoons of fish sauce (patis).

Also, don't put more than 1/4 cup of water because Chayote brings out water.

You keep checking the chayote. I remembered my mom does not like very soft chayote, but I do. LOL. So, it depends on your preference if you like some crunch, do not overcook your vegetable.
